Mise-en-scene blog post

In this activity me and my group wanted our project to be immersive and for the audience to learn about our character by making it cozy and interactive. Taylor loves movies. She likes spending time with her friends at home and writes a blog where she rates movies. She is 29 and lives in an apartment with her two cats, Milo and Lila.

We made a online living room to show the viewers how it looks, we then have a Kahoot so the viewers can be interactive in our presentation then at the end we added a blog writing activity.

We did a good job brainstorming and making it interactive, but we didn't consider the time enough because some groups couldn't finish ours in time.

Why Comedy Always Makes Us Laugh

Comedy is one of the most popular movie genres because it makes people laugh. These films show characters in funny, awkward, or silly situations. Comedy can be about friends, love, family, or work. Movies like Superbad and The Hangover are still popular because they are fun and relatable.

Comedy stories usually follow characters who get into trouble or make mistakes. Humor comes from misunderstandings, sarcasm, or characters acting in crazy ways. Some comedies mix with romance, action, or even dark themes. But the main goal is always to make the audience laugh.

Comedy movies are made in ways that make the jokes work. Lighting is bright and music is cheerful. Editing is timed so jokes land at the right moment. Close-up shots show funny faces. Costumes and props may be normal or slightly exaggerated. Clear dialogue is important because most jokes come from what the characters say.

Comedy movies are usually for teens and young adults. Some are for families too. Trailers show funny scenes or lines. Posters show the main characters in silly poses. Movies are also promoted online with short clips or memes to make people laugh before the movie starts.

A good example is Superbad (2007). It follows two high school friends, Seth and Evan, trying to have a fun night before graduation. The humor comes from awkward situations like trying to buy alcohol for a party. The bright lighting and natural dialogue make the characters feel real. The fast editing keeps the jokes coming.

Another example is The Hangover (2009). It is about a group of friends who wake up in Las Vegas with no memory of the night before. One friend is missing. The comedy comes from the crazy situations and funny characters like Alan. Fast editing and the busy Vegas setting make the story funnier. Posters and trailers show the wild situations to get viewers excited.

Other comedy films include Mean Girls, 21 Jump Street, Pitch Perfect, Napoleon Dynamite, The 40-Year-Old Virgin, Bridesmaids, and Elf. Comedy is popular because it shows life in a funny way. It reminds people to laugh and enjoy themselves.

Sound helps convey the storytelling more by adding a dramatic effect and helping the viewer feel and understand more in-depth. In the first project, we were asked to create a story only using sound, and in the second project, we were to add sound to our one-word film created previously. For the sound project #1 me and my partner worked to create the story of a family eating dinner at the dinner table, and then an earthquake happens and they make it to the basement safely. We create the story by using sounds of dishes rattling, forks dropping, glasses clinking, low rumble, screams, and more. We used an outline to plan when each event takes place and what sounds to use for each event. We used ClipChamp and other links to find our sounds. I think we did well on this project and it is clear of what is going on in the story.

In sound project #2, we were asked to add sound to our previous one word film project that was created with no sound. We gathered our sounds and created our Foley sounds, then separately added them to our project. I used KineMaster to edit my sounds into my project. We went through each scene to think about which sounds to use when, so we knew when which ones were needed. I think we did a good job getting together what sounds were needed, but I could have incorporated them much better in the film.
